Jungle Trip

We recommend taking one of the guided tours through the biosphere known as the Sian Ka'an.  It's an all day affair, but totally worth it if you're up for an adventure of hiking, swimming and checking out some of the most beautiful wildlife Mexico has to offer, complete with lagoons, marsh and coral reef.  A word to the wise, make sure you bring bug spray!

Snorkeling

Hidden Worlds and Dos Ojos are great caves and cenotes for snorkeling. Same for Aktun Chen, which also has a monkey preserve. Other great cenotes include: Gran Cenote, Cenote Carwash, and Cenote Calaveras on the road toward Coba (close to Tulum) and Cenote Escondido and Cenote Cristal.

Archaeological Sites

The Coba Ruins, Muyil, Tulum ruins, Coba, Muyil, Chichen Itza and Ek Balam are all dig sites that provide a peek into the life of so many incredible Ancient Mayan cities.

Kiteboarding

Tulum is a great spot to learn kiteboarding, with the long stretches of beaches, warm clear Caribbean waters and fairly consistent winds.  Although the winds are not as strong as other places in the world the conditions make it ideal to learn in a non-intimidating environment.

Spa

The spa at Esencia is amazing, whether you're looking for a massage, body wrap, facial or beauty treatments.  They also offer mani/pedis.

Tulum

Tulum is a cute little town about two hours south of the airport and about 45 minutes south of Esencia.  Situated along the beach, the town is full of wonderful restaurants, hotels and spas.  Tulum has become a popular destination, but it's still off the grid enough to feel really quaint.  Some of our favorite restaurants are Hartwood, El Tabano and Zamas.  If you're interested in spending the night, Be Tulum is a really cute hotel.  Coqui Coqui is also really cute and has a great spa!
